Giving Back to Mahtomedi High School Students!
The
Mahtomedi Zephyr “M” Club supports Mahtomedi High School
extra-curricular activities in a variety of ways. One
way the "M" Club assists students is to provide a
funding source for equipment, supplies,
assemblies, etc., for MHS students involved in those
extra-curricular activities sanctioned or sponsored by
Mahtomedi
High School.
The “M” Club’s financial support exists
to provide funding that otherwise would not be available
through MHS or School District budgets. It is the intent
of the “M” Club to contribute money
that directly benefits the students of Mahtomedi High
School.
Listed below are just some of the contributions the "M" Club has made within the past school year:

Flowers for Seniors’ Nights
-
Homecoming Parade coordination and prizes
-
"M" Chenille's for Letter Jackets
-
MAEF Gala
-
Recognition breakfasts for teams/groups that made it to a state tournament
-
St. Paul Athena Awards
-
Senior Class Party
-
Senior Institute Day for all Seniors
-
Team America Rocketry Challenge
-
ALL concessions for ALL activities
The
following are the guidelines that apply to “M” Club
funding. All funding commitments and requests are
subject to the availability of funds in the “M” Club’s
account and budget. “M” Club policy and IRS
regulations require that unused funds be returned to the
“M” Club.
ALL
funding requests must be presented through the on-line
form at the bottom of this page.
No other
form of requests will be accepted.

All requests must include the following:
-
The amount of money requested;
-
The
date the funds will be needed;
-
Expected date the funds will depleted and or the
project completed;
-
Group, association or organization requesting funds;
-
Vendor information for purchase(s);
-
What sport, activity, or event the funding will be
provided to;
-
A
parent, teacher, coach, or staff member, to sponsor
and take responsibility for the project;
-
Explanation of the purpose for which the money will
be used;
-
The approximate number of students who will
participate and or benefit from the funding;
-
An explanation of how the funding would directly
benefit MHS students;
-
The reason “M” Club funding is necessary, and the
efforts that participating students and their
parents have made, or intend to make, to provide
financial support for the subject of the request.
The "M" Club board may require:
-
Verification that the funding request is directly
related to a MHS sanctioned activity or program;
-
A student (preferably), coach, teacher or parent
involved with the activity seeking funding may be
asked to appear at the Board meeting to address the
funding request;
-
Copies of receipts for all expenditures related to
the funding request;
-
A
quote from the vendor or vendors detailing the
purchase costs.
Approval Process
-
Requests of $500 or less can be approved by a majority vote of
the
Fundraising
Development Committee.
The "M"
club will provide an approval, denial, or a request
for additional information within 10 days;
-
Requests of $501 or greater require approval by a
majority vote of
Board members in attendance at a regularly scheduled
meeting.
The "M"
club will provide an approval, denial, or a request
for additional information within 30 days;
-
The Board will notify the requestor of the approval
or denial of the funding request. The requestor,
unless a current “M” Club member, may not be
present during the vote on the request.
Participatory Qualification:
As a volunteer organization the "M" Club succeeds
through monetary support as well as volunteer efforts.
The "M" Club may ask that individuals and groups
provide
participation and or volunteer support as a condition for the funding to
be granted.
Disfavored Requests:
The following requests for funding assistance are
discouraged and, absent some unusual circumstance, will
generally be denied:

Funding for basic
operational expenses including coach's salaries,
game/practice venue expenses,
referees, and participant transportation;
-
Requests for funding of travel for participation in
activities beyond the school season (e.g., sports
and music camps);
-
Out-of-state or international travel that primarily
benefits individual participants, without providing
or promoting meaningful benefits for MHS;
-
Commercially-sponsored trips that are non-school and
out-of-district initiated and sponsored.
